The following databases offer information, everything from executive names to recent news, on specific companies.
 

Directories

CareerSearch
Contains information on more than one million U.S. companies segmented by industry, location and size. The database is compiled from information provided by a multitude of nationally recognized data publishers, and is continually updated. As an added bonus, it also contains a "Top-Rated Cities" database and "Salary Calculator".

D&B Million Dollar Directory Available in the Walker Management Library to all Vanderbilt users; remote access available to Owen Management Community only
Provides information on over one million U.S. public and private businesses. Company records include industry information with up to 24 individual 8-digit SICs, size criteria (employees and annual sales), type of ownership, principal executives and biographies. Limited to companies with sales greater than $3 million or employees total greater than 50.

Hoover's Online
Profiles more than 50,000 public and private companies. Each profile may include company description, historical profile, competitors, financials, industry information, and biographies of executives. It also contains a Career Development section that contains a job bank and a salary wizard.

S&P NetAdvantage
Includes Standard and Poor's industry surveys, information on public and private companies, and biographies of thousands of executives and directors.

Business & Industry Some Vanderbilt users may encounter access restrictions
For industry news, facts, figures and key events, use Business & Industry. It covers leading trade magazines, newsletters, and international business dailies.

Business Source Premier
Full text for nearly 2,270 scholarly business journals (including the Harvard Business Review) covering management, economics, finance, accounting, and international business. Coverage: 1990-present; selected titles 1965-present. This database also contains company reports by Datamonitor.

Expanded Academic ASAP
Contains detailed information on U.S. and international companies, including histories and chronologies of major companies, as well as coverage of major U.S. and global industries including full-text essays, rankings, market shares, trade and professional associations, and statistical analyses.

General BusinessFile ASAP
Analyzes company performance and activity, industry events and business trends as well as the latest in management, economics and politics. Access to a combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text and images available. Out of 1,300 titles included, 650 are available full text. Also includes more than 50,000 investment reports and PR Newswire stories for the most recent 30 days. Coverage: 1980-present.

LexisNexis Academic (news)
Covers national and international newspapers, business, trade, technical, and legal magazines, network news transcripts, newswires, European language news sources, as well as legal reports from federal and state courts, federal laws and regulations, and other government information. Most are available full text.

ProQuest
Full text for nearly 2,000 journals in all academic fields. Users can search the entire database or individual modules in such areas as arts, business, education, health, humanities, law, psychology, science and social science. Full text is available for about one half of the journals included, with graphics available for many of the full text articles. Coverage: 1970-present.

Searches documents which contain biographical sources, people-related news sources and selected biographical stories, obituaries and business related stories covering company executives.
