Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Charles Eugene Woodruff served as Assistant Professor of Pathology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1930-1934. An expert on the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, he left Vanderbilt for the William H. Maybury Sanatorium Northville, MI where he later served as its medical director. Born Jan 13, 1899, he received his BS from Whitman College in 1921, and his MD from Yale University 1926. Prior to coming to Vanderbilt in 1927 as an Instructor in Pathology, he served as an assistant in Pathology at Yale University. He died in April 1980 in Washington, Michigan.
