Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Wells earned his A.B. and M.D. from Emory University in Atlanta, and received postgraduate training in Neurology and Psychiatry at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, NIH, the Institute of Psychiatry at the University of London, and Duke University Medical Center. Following service on the faculty of Cornell University, he came to Vanderbilt in 1961 where he served as Associate Professor of Neurology in the Division of Neurology and Neuroloigst in Chief at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He later received an appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, attaining the rank of Professor in both the department of Psychiatry and Neurology. In 1984, he went into private practice becoming well known in the specialty of geriatric psychiatry. He died in Nashville August 8, 2006.
