Historical or Biographical Note

John Albert Majors, M.D., went to Nashville in 1897 to attend the State Normal School, which later became Peabody College in 1911. After excelling as a football star, Majors decided to change his career focus to that of medicine, thus enrolling in the University of Nashville Department of Medicine around 1899. Majors graduated with his medical degree in 1902 and began a career selling medical books. He later joined the New Orleans Polyclinic postgraduate program affiliated with Tulane University, graduating in 1907. Despite his medical training, Dr. Majors' continued to devote his career to medical bookselling.
