Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Vernon Knight served on the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine faculty as Associate Professor of Medicine from 1954-1959. He was also Director of the George Hunter Laboratory for Study of Infectious Diseases.

Knight received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1943. He served as a medical officer in the United States Navy during World War II. From 1950 to 1954, Knight was Director of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases at Cornell University. His specialties included molecular physiology and biophysics, oncology, and pulmonary diseases.
