Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Meneely served Vanderbilt for 18 years as a faculty member before leaving to become director of the American Medical Association's scientific assembly department in Chicago. He was a graduate of Princeton University and Cornell University Medical School. While at Vanderbilt he was the director of nuclear medicine and biophysics as well as an associate professor of medicine at the medical school and the director of the radioisotope center. He was involved in research at Thayer Hospital, measuring the functions of heart and lungs. Dr. Meneely also established the cardio-pulmonary facility at Vanderbilt.
