Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Thomas Ban was born in Budapest, Hungary, November 16, 1929. He received his medical degree from Semmelweiss University in Budapest Hungary in 1954 and received a Diploma in Psychiatry with Distinction from McGill University in 1960. He was appointed Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt in 1976 has held numerous appointments at both McGill University and Vanderbilt. Dr. Ban is currently Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt. His primary areas of study have been schizophrenia and psychophamacology.
