Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. James P. Wilson, M.D served as director of the Vanderbilt Adult Primary Care Center from 1995 to 2000, and was associate professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine. He earned his B.S. degree from Michigan State in 1962 and his M.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1966. He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt as well as a fellowship in clinical pharmacology. Following residency training in 1972, he joined the faculty as assistant professor of medicine. In 1977 he entered private practice, but maintained a clinical appointment until he returned to Vanderbilt in 1990 to develop Vanderbilts adult primary care services. He died November 26, 2007.
