Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Thomas A. Hazinski, was professor of pediatrics and director of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He also served as associate dean for faculty affairs at Vanderbilt, and was co-founder of the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) Program. Dr. Hazinski was a native of South Bend, Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1971 and his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1975. He joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1984. He died January 14, 2006 at the age of 57. In 2007 the Thomas A. Hazinski, M.D., Scholarship in the MCSI program was established to honor his service to Vanderbilt.
