Historical or Biographical Note

Thomas O. Menees graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School in 1912. After a trip abroad, Menees was associated with the Department of Physiology and later specialized in Roentgenology. Menees enlisted in the United States Army in 1917, serving as First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps. He was awarded a Victory Medal in 1920. Menees ultimately served in Blodgett Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as Roentgenologist, a position he held until his passing (1919-1937). He spent the fall of 1930 in postgraduate study in Vienna, taking particular interest in radiation therapy and the study of the bones of the skull.
