Vanderbilt Affiliated Patrons

Vanderbilt Students

Vanderbilt students and faculty, staff (full and part-time) and alumni have reading and borrowing privileges in all divisions of the Jean and Alexander Heard Library, upon presentation of a valid University identification card. Employees of Vanderbilt Temporary Services have reading privileges only. Cards for University faculty, staff, students, and alumni are issued by the Vanderbilt Card Office , 184 Sarratt Student Center, (615) 322-CARD. Card Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Tuesday 8:00a.m.-7:00 p.m., or by appointment. Cards for Vanderbilt Medical Center faculty, students and staff (including VTS staff) are issued at the VUMC Card Office , in the Round Wing of Medical Center North, D-2107, (615) 936-3349. Medical Center Card Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The card office closes daily from 1:00-2:00.

Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff may access our licensed electronic resources from any place using their VUnet ID and password

Leaves of Absence:

Vanderbilt students on official University leaves of absence (as determined by the University Registrar) continue to have reading and borrowing privileges during the period of their leave.

Persons Auditing Courses:

Persons not enrolled at Vanderbilt who are auditing courses are eligible for library access cards during the semester(s) they are auditors. Persons wishing to get an access card should request that the professor teaching the course send a written statement indicating their status as an official auditor. The letter should be sent to Pat Johnson, Library Dean's Office, 611 GLB.
